MAG hires new COO as Harrison heads to Stansted

MANCHESTER Airport Group has revealed a top level shake-up which sees Andrew Harrison, MD of Manchester Airport moving to Essex to lead newly-acquired Stansted.

Mr Harrison, who was also chief operating officer at MAG, is being replaced by Andrew Cowan.

Mr Cowan joined the group in January and was previously chief executive at Robertson Group, an infrastructure construction and services company.

He has been handed overall responsibility for all airport operations, aside from Stansted.

Commenting on his new role Andrew Harrison said: “It’s an exciting challenge ahead at Stansted and we’ll be starting to plan immediately. I’ve been involved in several high profile projects at Manchester particularly the retail developments where I believe we set the scene for how we improve retail across all of our assets, so I’m aiming to bring those experiences to the new airport in the South East.

“We’ll be working closely with staff, airlines, customers and stakeholders to realise the potential of Stansted in the years ahead.”

Andrew Cowan, added: “I’m really looking forward to my challenge of overseeing the operations for all four airports.

“For me the most exciting thing about our new relationship with Stansted is the opportunity it gives us to identify and apply best practice across all our operations. By doing this, we will be able to create the ‘MAG way of doing things’ which we can then take and apply to new ventures.”
