Playdemic’s world first with Zynga deal

WILMSLOW-based social gaming company Playdemic is celebrating a surge in activity after a new accreditation with Zynga, the US gaming platform.

The company, led by serial gaming entrepreneur Paul Gouge, says it has
become the first studio in the world to be given Zynga’s Incentivised X-Promotion for its Facebook game, Village Life

The incentivised promotion by Zynga – the biggest social gaming studio in the world with nearly 300 million players of their games each month – has sparked a 650% leap in Village Life players to nearly two million per day.

Such a surge means a boost to revenues too as users spend on virtual items within the game.

In Village Life, players must nurture their villagers from the moment they are born, taking care of their needs and guiding them through all of life’s ups and downs.

Playdemic CEO, Paul Gouge said: “This is a great moment for Playdemic, the fact that Village Life is now one of the biggest Facebook games in the world is testament to the incredibly talented team we have here and the fantastic relationship we have with Zynga.”

Zynga’s head of partner publishing, Rob Dyer, said: “For Zynga, third-party publishing is more than hitting a button and sharing a game with millions of players.

“We work side-by-side with our developer partners to make great games better.

“There were trips to San Francisco, late nights in Manchester, UK, and plenty of early morning calls.

“All of the behind-the-scenes collaboration, crunching and coding was heartening, and we’re so proud that Village Life is the first third-party game we’ve promoted across our entire network – sharing Village Life more broadly with all of our players on Zynga.com and Facebook.”

Playdemic is currently working on versions of Village Life for Apple iPhones and iPads.
