Macdonald picks three NW hotels for Signature status

SCOTTISH hotel group Macdonald Hotels & Resorts has picked three North West properties for its new ‘Signature Collection’.
The group, which has 45 hotels in total has selected 11 as elite sites. The three in this region are the Macdonald Townhouse Hotel, Manchester, Macdonald Portal Hotel & Spa in Tarporley and the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa, Windermere.
The launch of the Signature Collection comes just weeks after the company reported a 3% rise in operating profit, for the year ending March 2012, of £13.7m.
David Guile, chief executive of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said the creation of the Signature Collection was a: “fantastic opportunity to highlight our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of product and service and to signpost truly unique hotels, due to their location, history or recent level of investment”.
The eight other sites ear-marked include the historic Randolf Hotel in Oxford and the Bath Spa Hotel.
