Burberry extends Manchester shop

BURBERRY is to extend its store on New Cathedral Street in Manchester.

It is expanding the first floor, increasing the space from 3,700 sq ft to 5,470 sq ft.

Meanwhile, fellow New Cathedral Street tenant LK Bennett has extended its contract to occupy the unit beyond 2020 and shoe retailer Dune has taken a larger shop at the Arndale Centre.

Part of New Cathedral Street, as well as the adjacent Arndale Centre, is owned by Intu Properties, formerly Capital Shopping Centres, and PRUPIM. They are represented by letting agents Tushingham Moore and CBRE.

Ed Sellick, director of retail asset management at PRUPIM, said: “It is exciting for Manchester that retailers continue to recognise the city centre as a thriving shopping destination and with such a strong retail line up at New Cathedral Street and Manchester Arndale, we are seeing shopping in Manchester to grow from strength-to-strength.”

Briant Champion Long acted for Burberry and MMX Retail acted for LK Bennett.
