Hotel and exhibition plans on display

LIVERPOOL City Council is launching a public consultation on the 200-bed hotel planned for a new waterfront exhibition centre complex.

The £40m centre will have 90,000 sq ft of space connected to the existing Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) by a covered bridge link.

The plans will be on display at the arena on Saturday April 13 from 10am-1pm.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, added: “We received positive feedback from the public when we held the pre-planning application consultation in February. We now have more detailed plans in place for the hotel and the covered bridge link.

“As the scheme will see the significant development of Liverpool’s waterfront, it is important that the public are given the opportunity to let us know their thoughts and to share our vision for this exciting project. Comments will be assessed ahead of the updated planning application due to be submitted later this month.”

International construction company ISG, responsible for the construction of the London 2012 Velodrome, was appointed last October to deliver the scheme. Denton Corker Marshall, who designed the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, was appointed as architect in December.

Construction is set to start in the autumn and it should be open for business in 2015.
