Bglobal not hampered by smart meter delay

SMART energy firm Bglobal said the government’s decision to postpone the introduction of smart meters for a year was in line with its own strategy.
Over the past few years the business has moved from being a smart meter supplier to selling software and services to the UK energy market.
The Darwen-based firm, which has a listing on the Alternative Investment Market, said: “Accordingly, the announcement is in line with the company’s expectations and strategy and the board believes this will also prove useful in highlighting the advantages of the group’s Smart Pay As You Go integrated software solution for energy suppliers during the period prior to the start of the mass rollout stage.”
The Department of Energy and Climate Change said the £11.7bn project, which will cover 30 million homes, would now begin in the autumn of 2015.
It said the industry needed more time to design, build and test the devices which show how much gas and electricty is being used and transmit readings to the supplier, ending the need for estimated bills.
