Mulbury Homes starts work on Didsbury apartments scheme

CONSTRUCTION work has begun on a £3.5m development of 36 luxury apartments in south Manchester.

Albert Place, a development of one and two bedroom apartments, is being built at Didsbury Point close to the new West Didsbury Metrolink station.

The scheme is being developed by Cheshire company Mulbury Homes and built by Manchester’s Harbur Construction.

Greg Mulligan, a director of Lymm-based Mulbury Homes, said: “We have built up a strong reputation as a specialist developer of affordable homes, but our business model has also allowed us to look at other opportunities within the residential sector.

“While we continue to focus primarily on affordable housing, open market is a natural extension of what we do. West Didsbury is fast becoming not just a place to go, but a place to live and Albert Place will deliver high-quality city living aimed at young professionals and other commuters.”

The Albert Place name comes from the original ‘Withington and Albert Park’ railway station that is close to the development off Palatine Road and Lapwing Lane.

Christian Bury, managing director of Harbur Construction, added: “We continue to see signs that the open market housing sector is picking up and demand remains high for quality housing in the right areas. This is an exciting scheme in an upcoming part of Manchester and we are proud to be involved.”

The homes will be going on the market later this year and construction work is due to be completed in spring 2014.”
