Former Asda exec to lead Original Factory Shop

THE Original Factory Shop has appointed former Asda executive Tony Page as its chief executive.
He replaces Angela Spindler who has left the Burnley group to head Manchester-based N Brown, the retailer behind brands such as Simply Be, Jacamo, Figleaves, and JD Williams.
Most recently Mr Page was the interim commercial director at Portsmouth-based online sports retailer Wiggle. He was at Asda from 1996 to 2006 where he rose to head the non-food business.
He has also been the managing director of Lloyds Pharmacy, commercial director at Russian retailer Lenta, and commercial and marketing director for Woolworths.
Original Factory Shop chairman David Williams said: “Tony has extensive and relevant experience within UK retail and we are confident that he will successfully accelerate the Company’s ambitious growth plans as we continue to invest in new convenience department stores, serving many small communities across the UK.”
Mr Page said: “Value and convenience retail are both becoming increasingly attractive to the UK consumer, as evidenced by their growing share of market. I am excited by the opportunity to capitalise on TOFS unique retailing position, whereby customers can access quality brands at factory shop prices, to expand the company’s foothold across the UK whilst also increasing earnings growth. I look forward to working with the team.”
