ACCOUNTANCY firm Moore and Smalley has appointed Victoria Dadswell as a tax planning manager at its Lancaster office.
Dadswell, a chartered tax adviser, joins the firm after more than six years at CLB Coopers where she was a tax manager.
At Moore and Smalley she will advise clients on a range of tax matters, including business structures, retirement and succession planning, capital allowances and research and development claims.
It will be Victoria’s second spell at the firm. She previously worked for Lonsdale & Partners which was acquired by Moore and Smalley in 2008.
Tax partner Rachel Marsdin, who was also Dadswell’s manager when she first worked at the firm, said: “Victoria has a huge amount of experience in advising businesses on their tax affairs and she will be a real asset to the firm. It’s great to see her back here.”

COMMERCIAL property adviser GVA has promoted Mike King from director to senior director in the valuation team.
First joining GVA in 2009, King has over 29 years’ experience and is considered to be a leading figure in valuation matters, said the firm.
His promotion is one of 14 director-level promotions across GVA’s seven offices, with the appointments made to recognise those individuals considered integral to the success of their respective teams.
Mark Rawstron, head of the Manchester office, said: “This promotion recognises Mike’s contribution to the growth of the valuation team and will provide added value for GVA’s public, private, and corporate clients and is recognition of the level of expertise that exists within GVA Manchester.”

NIMBLE Thompson, a former senior partner at Eversheds in Leeds and Manchester, has been appointed deputy chairman of the Institute of Directors.
He has a long-standing connection with the IoD, having previously served as regional chairman for Yorkshire and the Humber. He will take over from Philippa Foster-Back who is leaving after three terms.
Chairman Ian Dormer said: “We are delighted that Nimble has accepted the role as deputy chairman, he brings a significant wealth and breadth of experience both within the business world and within the IoD. I look forward to working more closely with him and do not doubt that he will meet the high bar set by Philippa, whose input and wise counsel have been hugely valued by the board.”
Mr Thompson said: “I look forward to assisting Ian and the board to ensure the IoD continues to deliver for its members and the wider business community. I will do my best to follow the great contribution made by Philippa.”
Mr Thompson, who retired from Eversheds in 1999, is also chairman of building services group NG Bailey, but will step down next month.
