World leaders to flock to IFB 2014

SOME 50 world leaders are expected at the International Festival for Business 2014, according to the man running the event, Max Steinberg.
He revealed new details of the 61-day festival, which promises to attract 250,000 visitors in June and July, at a gala dinner for yesterday’s ACCELERATE 2013 high growth business conference.
The international group of politicians will attend a Global Leaders Summit to debate the opportunities and challenges facing cities, regions and nations.
As well as senior politicians, the city will host an Olympics-style event for business people called the Corporate Games, and there will be a focus on the busines of film through an association with former Liverpool media lawyer Stuart Ford who now runs the Hollywood production company IM Global.
The three-day event will combine film premieres, expert master-classes and a gala dinner. It also promises to showcase the region to international film-makers as a location and production centre.
The UK’s key business groups will also be present with the Confederation of British Industry and the British Chambers of Commerce confirming support. The Federation of Small Businesses will hold its national council meeting during the festival and also host a summit for small business.
The organisers also revealed how the festival will have weeks dedicated to key sectors such as: Maritime, logistics and energy; higher and further education; manufacturing, science and technology; professional and financial Services; low carbon and renewables; and knowledge, creative and digital.
Max Steinberg, chair of IFB 2014, said: “The IFB will be the most important international business event for Britain in 2014 and it is happening here in Liverpool. Through partnerships with the Confederation of British Industry, UKTI, British Chambers of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses, IFB 2014 will appeal to businesses across the UK and beyond, from small firms to large corporates, and from pubic to private sectors. It will be a showcase of everything that is brilliant about international and British business, bringing 250,000 visitors to Liverpool next year.”
