BT swells numbers at Warrington call centre to 1,000

BT says its latetst recruitment drive in the North West will take job numbers at its Warrington call centre to over 1,000.

The company is in the throes of hiring 290 people for its base at Europa Boulevard. Many of the posts have been filled, but BT, which is launching its sports broadcasting venture in the coming weeks, has 50 posts to fill at the moment.

The majority of the 290 jobs are for consumer customer advisers working on the launch of BT Sport, while more than 40 are being employed as business sales advisoes. The business sales recruitment will double the number of people in the existing unit at Warrington, which is set to become BT’s main outbound contact centre for business sales in the UK.

Mike Blackburn, BT’s regional director said: “A major recruitment is under way at Warrington, which is creating great job opportunities for local people.

“The fact we will soon employ more than 1,000 people at this centre is testament to the quality of the local workforce and a vital boost for the town’s economy.

“This is a super opportunity for people who want to work in a vibrant and exciting industry.”

The new advisers are being recruited by employment agency Manpower, making Warrington one of BT’s biggest contact centre operations in the UK.
 
BT recently opened a UK customer service hub for BT Sport at Accrington, with the creation of around 325 jobs. The Warrington expansion will takes its North West workforce to more than 8,500.
