Green light for Travis Perkins shed at Omega

WARRINGTON Borough Council has granted planning permission to Omega Warrington Limited (OWL) to construct a 700,000 sq ft regional logistics centre for the Travis Perkins Group on Omega North.

The £35m logistics centre will supply Travis Perkins Group wholesale and retail outlets across the region, supporting around 450 jobs on site.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2014 with operation planned for 2015.

It was the third signing at the business park at junction 8 of the M62, following food supplier Brakes in December and delivery group Hermes in May. It takes total pre-let space to one million sq ft.

Omega is a joint venture between Miller Developments and Royal Bank of Scotland-owned KUC Properties. Andrew Sutherland, joint managing director of Miller Developments, said: “This marks another important step in a very short period for the on-going development of the site and we are pleased the flow of activity is continuing to progress at pace, reinforcing Omega North’s position as a major logistics hub.”

Jones Lang LaSalle, GVA and Addleshaw Goddard acted for Omega Warrington Ltd and Chetwoods architects has drawn up the designs. The Travis Perkins Group was advised by CP Property Consultants, Bourne Partnership and BSDR.

In April permission was granted for a 600,000 sq ft distribution base for ASDA at Omega South, on the other side of the M62. In total the site covers 575 acres, with around 80 at Omega North.
