Strongest year yet for MPE Interiors

MERSEYSIDE fit-out specialist MPE Interiors said it has enjoyed its strongest year since it was established in 2001, with revenue jumping from £1.5m to £2.5m.

The business, which has 35 staff, was founded by co-directors Cliff Grainger and John Whetnall who both formerly worked at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead.

It specialises in marine fit-out contracts but also works on more conventional jobs in offices, schools and leisure centres. Mr Grainger said growth has been driven by demand in maritime as well as commercial and residential property.

He said: “Our marine division has had its most successful year and we are keen to build on this. We want to expand the business and win more work in both the military and commercial marine market in the North West and across the UK and Europe. We are especially keen to promote the calibre of our bespoke furniture manufacturer and installation services to the superyacht market.

“The last 12 months has seen us continue to work closely with Cammell Laird and other key commercial marine clients including ferry operators. For Cammell Laird we have worked on the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier flight decks contract, including manufacturing enormous plywood weather protection units to guard the nine modules as they were transported by barge from Cammell Laird to Rosyth on the East Coast of Scotland. We have also worked for Cammell Laird on its contract for Through Life Support of the Royal Fleet Auxiliaries.”
