Worthington submits plans for £55m Lytham scheme

WORTHINGTON Properties has submitted plans for a £55m housing and retail scheme on the former Premium Bonds site in Lytham St Annes.

The Preston-based developer wants to build 162 houses, a pub, a retirement homes and a Booths supermarket.

The 18.3-acre site at Heyhouses Lane was sold in May by Telereal Trillium for £9.5m.

Hollinwood Homes, Worthington’s residential development arm, will build 30 new houses and the remainder will be built by Wilmslow-based Morris Homes.

Russell Worthington, development director, said: “We have put a regeneration plan forward which will see a neglected and derelict site brought back into use. This scheme will support our desire to create a bold, vibrant new community which will benefit the wider area and stimulate the local economy for years to come.”

Graham Booth, property director at Booths, said: “The success of our Haven Road Lytham store has encouraged us to redouble our efforts to provide a replacement for our recently closed St Annes store.”

Architects for the scheme are Broadway Malyan and Leach Rhodes Walker, with Turley Associates providing planning guidance and advice.

The former Department for Work & Pensions site once housed the computer, nicknamed Ernie, which picked the Premium Bonds prize winner.
