Green light for PJ Livesey’s Mostyn House scheme

MANCHESTER-based developer the PJ Livesey Group has gained planning permission to convert the former Mostyn House School at Parkgate on the Wirral into housing.
The building on the River Dee has been in the Grenfell family since 1863 but has lain empty since closing as a school in 2010.
PJ Livesey wants to convert it into flats and build houses in the grounds, creating 87 properties.
The original Grade II listed buildings will be restored to provide six houses and 38 apartments, a listed cottage will be renovated and 42 new properties will be built on the site.
James Woodmansee, development director for PJ Livesey, said: “Although this was a complex application we believe the committee members recognised the hard work and extensive consultation put in over the last two years to bring the project to this stage.
“It is rare to achieve a unanimous vote and really is a credit to all those involved and a testament to the dedication and skills within the company. The development will be a jewel in the PJ Livesey portfolio and saves not only the fine school building but also secures the future of the original chapel.”
PJ Livesey Group was advised by Manchester law firm Cottrills.
