Growing DRL signs deal on new HQ

ONLINE white goods retailer DRL, one of the region’s fastest growing companies, has signed a deal for a new 50,000 sq ft head office in Bolton.

The letting is the largest office in Greater Manchester,  outside the city centre, this year.

Manchester-based OBI Property has secured the site at 5A Parklands, Middlebrook, Bolton for DRL.

DRL has taken a 15-year lease on the property at a rental value of £15.50 per sq ft.  The business is moving due to the rapid expansion of its Appliances Online brand, which is soon to be re-named AO.com.

DRL’s turnover has jumped from £50m to £275m in the last four years, and makes the move into 5A Parklands, 10 months after taking 30,000 sq ft in the same business park which is owned by Orbit Developments.

Will Lewis, director, OBI Property said: “We have been working with DRL on its property needs for the past 12 months and having outgrown their space quickly in Middlebrook, we worked with them and Orbit Developments to find one building to accommodate the growing team.”

OBI is also handling the project management of the fit out and interior design of the new headquarters.”

Tony Jones, managing director of Orbit Developments added: “We are pleased to be able sustain our strong relationship with DRL and their expansion within Middlebrook is a testament to the increasing demand for office space in this part of Bolton. We look forward to working alongside them again in the future.”
