Linco announces the ultimate sun block

SUN cream manufacturer Linco Care has pledged to cut the production of its aerosol products by 30% as part of its recently launch climate change initiative.

The Carrington-based firm, which is behind the Calypso sun range, said it was inspired to make the move after funding a large tree-planting initiative in Brazil.

Seena Seka, Linco’s head of product development, said that the business was already committed to recycling and the decision to reduce aerosol production complemented that.

“This is a firm commitment by our company to continue with our climage change campaign and illustrates our determination to do what we can to combat global warming,” he said.

“We’ve been in the sun care business for two decades and export our products to more than 60 countries across the world. However, we are genuinley concerned about the current climate debate and wish to do all we can to help.”

Aerosol use had long been frowned upon by environmentalists as its releases chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) into the atmosphere.

A powerful green house gas, they have half-lives between 50 to 100 years meaning that their reactivity in the ozone layer is long lived.

Their use has dropped dramatically since the introduction of the Montreal Protocol in 1987.
