Hill Dickinson looks East with Hong Kong office

NORTH West-based national law firm Hill Dickinson is strengthening its position in international markets with the launch of a Hong Kong office.
The Liverpool firm, which already has offices in Greece and Singapore since 2009, said its new Hong Kong base would open in October and will focus on the marine sector.
Hill Dickinson said it would be partnering with a local law firm after receiving the regulatory approval from the Law Society of Hong Kong.
The name of its partner firm cannot be revealed due to a confidentiality clause which will be lifted when the association is finalised.
The firm said it would will be relocating a partner from the UK to lead the operation and a team of four. It is also in the final stages of making a local hire.
Managing partner Peter Jackson, said: “Working with the partners at Hill Dickinson we are making a series of strategic decisions to strengthen the firm’s position both nationally and globally.
“We submitted an application to the Law Society in Hong Kong in May after identifying a gap in the local market. Our Singapore office has performed extremely well and we believe we can replicate this success in Hong Kong.”
The firm, which also has offices in London, Manchester and Sheffield recently announced the sale of its Chester office and 80 job lossses as part of its strategic review.
