Accrol Papers expecting further growth in sales

ACCROL Papers, the family-owned soft tissue manufacturer, has reported an 8% jump in profits as sales passed £70m for the first time.

The Blackburn-based company led by managing director Majid Hussain – winner of the 2013 North West EY Entrepreneur of the Year award for manufacturing – said it expects a further 20% uplift in sales in the year to the end of April 2014 as a result of investment in its production facility and improved customer support infrastructure.

Turnover at Accrol Holdings rose 18% to £74.8m in the year to the end of April. Pre-tax profits were 8.3% ahead of 2012 at £7.8m.

Accrol’s growth has been rapid. If its predictions of 19% growth this year are accurate its sales will have rocketed from just over £20m in 2010 to nearly £90m in 2014.

The company, based on the Roman Road Industrial Estate makes toilet rolls, kitchens towels and disposable napkins, which it supplies to retailers with brands including Softy and Handy Towel.

It has invested more than £6m in its facilities over recent years and over the last year has created more than 60 jobs, growing its workforce from 150 to 214 at year end.

Over the last year Accrol has donated more than £200,000 to a mosque in Blackburn. It has also committed to support the Blackburn Youth Zone to the tune of £25,000 a year over the next three years.
