Appointments: New department heads at Kuits; two join HIMOR

MANCHESTER law firm Kuits Solicitors has hired two new department heads.

Kevin McKenna and Katie McCann join the firm to head up the employment and family departments respectively.

McKenna, who joins as a partner from Weightmans, advises on all aspects of employment law, with a particular focus

on senior executive terminations, constructive and unfair dismissal claims, discrimination and large scale redundancy.

He will take over as head of employment from Sally Bird to allow her to focus on developing new and existing client

relationships. Another change in the team sees the appointment of associate, Mark McKeating who joins from Hill Dickinson.

McCann was previously a solicitor until 2009 when she transferred to the Bar and became a barrister at Atlantic

Chambers in Liverpool, specialising in all aspects of family and matrimonial law.

Prior to joining Kuits, she had developed a thriving practice in “direct access” work, where the public could instruct her directly as a barrister as opposed to instructing a solicitor first. She joins Kuits as in house counsel and head of the family department.
