RICS launches 2014 building awards

THE Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has started its search to find the most innovative property and construction schemes in the North West.
Its annual awards celebrate the region’s most inspirational built initiatives and developments.
Chair of the RICS North West Awards judging panel, Jane Lathwood, an associate at GVA in Manchester said: “The high volume of quality entries we received for the 2013 RICS North West Awards is testament to the talented property professionals in our region that continue to produce many exceptional built schemes, despite the uncertain climate.”
She adds: “Over this past year alone, there have been many exemplary property schemes built in the region which are certainly worthy of the recognition that winning an RICS Award can bring, so hopefully we will see a rise in the number of nominations we receive for the 2014 Awards.”
There are eight categories: Regeneration, Community Benefit, Building Conservation, Design through Innovation, Commercial property, Residential property, Infrastructure, and Tourism & Leisure. The Project of the Year is the entry judged to have scored the highest across all categories.
The 2013 winning schemes that will represent the North West in the national RICS Awards on October 18 in London are: The Florence Institute, Liverpool (Building Conservation) One Angel Square, Manchester (Design & Innovation), Trinity Methodist Church, Ellesmere Port (Community Benefit) and Stockbridge Village Regeneration, Knowsley (Regeneration).
The entry deadline is January 17.
