Appointments: Mills Media, So Purple, Weightmans

MILLS Media, the Wirral-based marketing agency, has announced major new appointments within the business.
Barrie Farrell, Mills’ head of the business television, has been promoted to creative director. He will now direct the creative content of all projects implemented by the firm across its conference, digital, exhibition and business television teams.
He joined as a scriptwriter in 1991 and has had a creative across all departments working as head of production and head of conference and live events.
Farrell will work closely in his new role with Lonn Landis, the newly appointed client account director, Paul Arrowsmith, who has been appointed as projects director and Bob Baxter the photographic director. Andrew Mills will remain managing director together with Jenny Griffiths who is financial director.

Mills Media’s services include event management, conferences and live events, exhibition services, design, graphics, commercial photography, business television and video production.

WIFI services group So Purple Group has made three key appointments to strengthen its marketing and technology teams.
The Manchester firm has appointed head of marketing Kerry Wright, who began her career at Endemol, working on the online voting and analytics for the first Big Brother series.
Most recently she was client services director for Amido, a London based consultancy specialising in technical strategy and bringing together cloud based services.
Matthew Smith takes on the role of channel marketing manager. He previously worked at the UK’s largest telecoms distributor, Salford-based Nimans.
Iain Jewitt joins the business as head of technology. He has 17 years’ experience of web and mobile development, with a particular focus on emerging technologies.
Jewitt previously spent eight years at specialist search marketing and technology business, Fast Web Media where he was technical director.
Chief executive Gavin Wheeldon said: “We don’t want to lose momentum so bringing in the right people with the right skills at this point is critical to our ongoing success. I’m confident that Kerry, Matt and Iain will ensure that we don’t take our foot off the gas in terms of what we have planned and hope to achieve over the next 12 months.”

MARK Poulston has joined law firm Weightmans from DWF as a partner in its Liverpool office.
Poulston has a particular interest in advising on the implementation of cost control measures and the pensions aspects of all types of transactions.
He started his legal career in-house at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance in Liverpool and is also a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner.
He said: “I am delighted to have joined Weightmans and such a friendly and enthusiastic team. For both employers and scheme trustees there are challenging pensions issues to address. My previous experience both as an in-house lawyer and in pensions management gives a practical focus to my advice.”
