Polish Consulate in Portland Street move

THE Polish Consulate in Manchester is moving from its existing base in Piccadilly to a Bruntwood block on Portland Street.

TheBusinessDesk understands the consulate is moving to the ground floor and first floor of the Manchester One block, formerly known as Portland Tower.

Bruntwood would not comment and said discussions were still ongoing, but it did stress that the space had a separate building address of 51 Portland Street, rather than Manchester One’s number 53.

Contractors are currently converting the space and have pulled out partition walls that had divided the floorplates into serviced offices. A notice on the window said the ground floor would include a “wedding hall” while the main office will be on the first floor.

The 131,000 sq ft 21-storey tower was the subject of a £2m makeover earlier this year. It has floorplates of 8,500 sq ft and the Polish Consulate looks to be taking around 10,000 sq ft. It is currently based at another Bruntwood block, 111 Piccadilly, close to the railway station.

No one at the consulate could be reached for comment. The Polish government also has representation at its embassy in London and another consulate in Edinburgh.
