UKTI Africa event ‘sold out’

UK TRADE and Investment has experienced “overwhelming” demand from North West business for an Africa-focused trade event.

More than 150 companies have signed up to its Doing Business in Africa seminar next Tuesday – and there are a similar number on the waiting list.

The event, at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, is bringing trade experts from 10 African companies to the region to discuss business opportunities in Algeria, Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.

It is the first time that directors of trade and investment from so many African countries have been in the North West together.

Doing Business in Africa will provide the delegates with a unique opportunity to gain market intelligence from the experts before deciding which region or country will be best for their product or service.

Delegates can also hear from regional businesses currently enjoying success in African markets, including Equas, Clarke Energy, Public Image and Eduteq.

Africa reported 6.6% growth in 2013. and last year Africa imported £10.4bn worth of products from the UK and this has grown from £8.6bn in 2010.

Lynne Gillen, international trade adviser for UKTI North West, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for businesses to meet senior international trade staff from across the African continent and we have had an overwhelming response from companies, making this one of our most popular events ever.”

“We apologise to the many businesses that are unable to attend the event due to capacity issues, but would like to reassure them that there is plenty of help and advice available via UTKI North West.  Companies who would like to find out more about Africa should call our International Trade Team on 0845 603 7053.”
