Booth rocks it with music deals

MUSIC lawyer Andy Booth has hit a sweet note with a hat trick of deals with top North West artists Johnny Marr, The Coral and Mercury Prize nominees I Am Kloot.

Mr Booth, head of creative industries at Manchester law firm Turner Parkinson, advised Johnny Marr on the renewal and extension of his publishing deal with Chrysalis Music.

He advised Liverpool band, The Coral, on the release of their fifth studio album ‘Butterfly House’ by Cooperative Music.

Finally in what was a busy summer, Mr Booth also negotiated licensing and distribution deals across the UK, Europe and Japan for Manchester band I Am Kloot’s latest album ‘Sky at Night’.

The album, produced by Guy Garvey and Craig Potter of Elbow, was recorded at the Moolah Rouge and Blueprint studios in Manchester.
He will be attending the Mercury Prize in London on September 7 in support of the band.

Mr Booth, a keen guitarist in a band called The Cassandra Complex, said: “The North West is renowned as a hot-bed of talent. I am encouraged to see regional musicians continuing to do well, especially as the music industry has been contracting over the last few years.”
