Asset and Land Group opens £10m recycling centre

A £10m recycling centre has opened on the outskirts of Manchester with the creation of 40 jobs.

The ‘Junction 25 Recycling Centre’ – owned by disposal company Asset and Land Group – has opened next to junction 25 of the M60 at Bredbury and will collect waste from across the North West.

Yorkshire Bank in Manchester has provided around £2.5m in funding for the venture which will initially process 100,000 tonnes of waste per annum with plans to significantly expand operations later this year.

The centre will recycle over 90% of the construction, demolition, commercial and industrial waste it handles.

One of Asset and Land Group’s companies – Skip Lift – will bring waste to the facility for recycling.

Barry Kilroe, managing director of Asset and Land Group, said: “This new centre is in an excellent geographic position and will enable us to recover and recycle waste from across the Greater Manchester and Cheshire region.

“This is another significant step in the development of Asset and Land Group into a multi-faceted service provider in recovery, recycling and regeneration.”

Asset and Land Group was founded by Barry Kilroe in July 2008 following the management buyout of The KDC Group of which he was the majority shareholder.

Group companies offer a wide range of services, from asset recovery and waste recycling to land acquisition and regeneration.

Yorkshire Bank has provided £1.5m to Asset and Land Group for construction works at the site. It has also provided £450,000 to Asset and Land Environmental and a further £500,000 to Skip Lift to support the new operation.

Steve Cox, business partner at Yorkshire Bank’s Manchester ‘financial solutions centre’, said: “Asset and Land Group is a growing business in a fast-expanding sector. The funding we have provided has enabled the company to take advantage of a number of quality business growth opportunities.”
