Avalon’s turnover increases to £6.5m

CHESHIRE funeral plan provider Avalon has broken through the £6m threshold on the back of strong sales growth.
The company, which is based in Handforth, has increased its sales by 8.5% over the past year to £6.5m.
The business was established in 1990 by Mike Cooper and his wife Clare and offers funeral plans in English, Spanish and German.
Over the past year, Avalon has also invested £100,000 in a new office in Hertfordshire.
Managing director Mr Cooper said that he believes that the results show that there is now renewed confidence in the marketplace.
He said: “I’m thrilled with the progress that Avalon has made this year.
“The company really is going from strength-to-strength.
“The significant financial gains that we have made this year are good news in what is still a shaky economic environment.”
The company – which sells funeral plans costing from £7 a week – now has 70 staff and offers free home advisory services to its clients.
In addition to its head office in Cheshire, Avalon has another office in Spain and a growing customer base in Turkey and Cyprus.
Avalon has helped over 25,000 customers over the past ten years.
