Chester Doubletree to expand

THE Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Chester, formerly known as Hoole Hall, has won permission to add 85 bedrooms to its existing 140.
The 4-star hotel, around a grade II listed manor house, sits in green belt land near Chester which meant the plans had to be referred to the National Planning Casework Unit.
It approved the extension and Cheshire West and Chester Council has now given its approval. Work will also be carried out on the hotel’s restaurant, reception area and car park.
Conor Vallelly, principal planner at HOW Planning which advised the hotel operator Sanguine Hospitality, said: “Demonstrating compliance with the strict terms of green belt policy was fundamental in achieving this planning approval.
“The significant investment proposed by the hotel is a major vote of confidence in Chester and will help to boost the local tourism industry which is of such importance to city. The scheme is a sustainable one and will lead to the creation of an additional 50 full-time jobs and apprenticeships as well as delivering major landscape improvements.”
