Blue Rainbow to serve up 40 jobs at Tea 42

THE owners of the Blue Rainbow Aparthotels business say its first tearoom venture, Tea 42, will create around 40 jobs.

Tea 42 will open later this month at a site close to BlueRainbow’s High Street aparthotel, near The Arndale shopping centre. It will be the first of a chain of up to 20 tearooms. Blue Rainbow is investing £325,000 in the new venture.
 

The new hospitality venture, based within the city centre, will serve a large selection of specialty, hand-blended teas, locally-sourced cakes and high-quality light refreshments.
 
A head chef and general manager have already been hired. Martin Small, joinis after four years as head chef at the National Trust’s Lyme Park attraction, and GM John Russell, will support founders Will Hannah and Jason Abbott in recruiting the rest of the team.

Mr Hannah said: “We’re thrilled to be in a position to offer employment opportunities to people in the Greater Manchester area. We’ve created something really special with Tea 42 and we’re looking for employees who reflect the brand’s ethos and personality.

“We welcome Martin and John to the Tea 42 team, both of whom have extensive experience within the hospitality industry, and will play a vital role in spearheading the success of our first Tea 42 site.”
 
Produce for Tea 42 has been sourced from local companies, such as Great North Pie Co and jam and chutney specialists, ‘Galore!’. The venue will also have an extensive gluten-free food menu, supported by eight locally brewed gluten-free beers. There will also be an extensive wine list and beer selection.  
 
Blue Rainbow, which also includes properties in Manchester’s Knott Mill area and on Edinburgh’s Queen Street, has plans to grows its annual turnover from just over £4m this year to £13m in 2017.
