320 homes approved for Kirkham

BLOOR Homes and Gladman Developments have secured outline planning permission for 320 homes on greenfield sites in Kirkham, Lancashire.

The application was intially refused by Fylde Borough Council and went to a public inquiry where it was approved by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles. Manchester-based NJL Consulting acted on behalf of both developers during the appeal process.

NJL said the council was concerned the neighbouring sites would represent uncoordinated development but did not defend its position at appeal.

Paul Smith, partner at NJL, said: “We are delighted to have been able to work with both Bloor Homes and Gladman Developments in delivering this planning consent.

“We worked hard with the council to demonstrate that their concerns could be satisfactorily addressed simply through imposing conditions, leading to their acceptance of the proposals.”
