Lend Lease resumes work on Potato Wharf

LEND Lease is to complete a residential block in Manchester’s Castlefield which stalled in 2010.
The concrete frame of the 102-apartment block at Potato Wharf was covered in a “photo tarpaulin” representing the finished design when work stopped.
Now the improving property market has prompted the developer to finish the block which is next to a similar building which was completed.
Richard Cook, Lend Lease’s head of residential, said: “The start on site at Potato Wharf illustrates our commitment to building homes of the highest quality in Manchester. We will be providing much needed new housing which will go on sale to prospective homeowners in the North-West in 2014.”
“Potato Wharf has excellent transport links – including both road and rail – and its canal-side location will be popular with homebuyers.”
The scheme will bring the total number of new homes built by Lend Lease in the city to nearly 1,500, including the 215 apartments recently completed at the Green Quarter close to the Co-operative Group headquarters.
