TLT raids Irwin Mitchell for team of 30

SOUTH West law firm TLT has made a major move on the North West legal market, luring a further five partners and 24 solicitors from Irwin Mitchell.
The Bristol firm has already taken Irwin Mitchell litigation partner John Lord, and has now followed up that coup with what managing partner David Pester describes as a “clear marker in the sand” about TLT’s growth plans.
The addition of the Irwin Mitchell team comes just six months after the firm launched in Manchester with three partners.
Mr Pester, said: “We want to get the right people and the right expertise into the business to deliver for our clients when and where they need us. Adding a team of 30 people, which includes six experienced Manchester-based partners, is a major step towards achieving that.
“The team is a great fit strategically for the firm. Their industry experience advising energy, financial services, leisure and retail businesses adds immediate expertise for TLT’s clients. They have significant experience in the Manchester market, alongside legal skills that will deliver for the firm’s clients UK-wide – adding to the focus and expertise of our existing Manchester team.”
“The team’s arrival cements our place in Manchester and builds further the firm’s UK-wide commercial, corporate and litigation teams.”
Along with John Lord, the new partners are: Andrew Bell, property; Ed Cotton, employment; Jon Close, corporate – previosuly the head of Irwin Mitchell’s corporate team in Manchester; Julien Luke, commercial litigation and Tom Seabrook, banking & finance litigation.
Irwin Mitchell said in a statement: “Irwin Mitchell is a fast-growing business and we have made a number of appointments into our Business Legal Services team, including five new partners in Manchester alone since February and 18 nationally since last year. More are likely to follow.
“This team has chosen to pursue their careers elsewhere and we wish them well.”
