Sweet Mandarin lands £6m China deal

SWEET Mandarin, the Chinese restaurant and sauce manufacturer, is among a number of North West businesses that have signed deals on the back of a David Cameron-led trade delegation to China.

The Manchester company has signed a deal worth up to £6m to sell Chinese sauces into the Chinese market, creating up to 15 new UK jobs.

Meanwhile, Manchester-based training and hardware supplier, EDM signed a cabin crew training software system contract worth £520,000 with partner company Xi’an Feibao.

Jaguar Land Rover, which has a major manufacturing base, in Halewood, Merseyside, signed a £4.5bn export deal.

In total, the Government said trade and investment deals worth more than £5.6bn, and creating over 1,500 UK jobs, had been signed.

Prime Minister David Cameron said: “Linking Britain to fast-growing markets like China is a vital part of the government’s plan to provide sustainable growth and compete in the global race.

“Today’s announcements show the huge potential to increase business with China.

“We are determined to do all we can to throw open the door for British companies to benefit from China’s vast and varied markets, showcasing British business, particularly small enterprises, in China and highlighting investment opportunities.”
