Administrators appointed to EOS Law

EOS Law, the law firm established by former DLA Piper partner Simon Woolley, has gone into administration.
Mr Woolley launched EOS in Manchester in 2010 a year after leaving DLA where he was the managing partner at its Manchester office.
It was described as a boutique firm with a focus on corporate deals and had around 25 staff based at an office in King Street.
Dermot Power and Patrick Lannagan of accountancy group BDO were appointed joint administrators of the firm on December 4. Mr Power could not be reached for comment. It is not yet known which firm will pick up EOS’ cases.
It has been a year of upheaval in the legal market, with the high profile failure of Cobbetts in January and a series of mergers and acquisitions, most recently Slater & Gordon’s deal to buy the consumer side of Pannone.
In July Mr Woolley told TheBusinessDesk.com that the firm was making “real progress” despite tough market conditions. It had been involved in Endless’ buyout of Oldham chemicals firm James Briggs and was also appointed to several banking panels.
Other deals the firm acted on included the refinancing of Inspired Energy, Mercater’s sale of its business to Saltus and HLD on it acquisition of Spring Ram.
Mr Woolley could not be reached at the office and the company’s website is down.
