Eskmuir close to acquiring ex-building society HQ

ESKMUIR Securities is understood to have exchanged contracts to acquire the Cheshire Building Society’s former headquarters building in Macclesfield.
Eskmuir already owns the neighbouring Grosvenor Shopping Centre and last year applied for planning consent to extend into the 42,000 sq ft building.
TheBusinessDesk.com understands the deal should complete in February.
The Castle Street site was put on the market by parent Nationwide Building Society in 2011. The sale is being handled by Colliers International which declined to comment.
Eskmuir bought the 88,000 sq ft shopping centre in two years ago from AXA Real Estate Investment Managers in a £20.8m deal.
