Arup takes 20,000 sq ft at Piccadilly Place

ENGINEERING firm Arup is moving its Manchester base to Carlyle Group’s Three Piccadilly Place.
Arup has taken 20,000 sq ft on a 10-year lease at the sixth floor of the Aytoun Street block which will accommodate 200 staff.
They will move from the St James’ Building on Oxford Road which has been the firm’s Manchester base for around 40 years.
Chris Cheap, director of property agent GVA acted for the Carlyle Group. He said: “Arup had the choice of a number of schemes within the city but were clear that, if they were to leave their long-established base on Oxford Road, it would be to relocate to an office development which offered first class accommodation, the best quality working environment for their staff, and was a move which future-proofed their business from a sustainability point of view. Piccadilly Place delivered on all counts and we are delighted to welcome them to the scheme.”
Carlyle director Ben Du Boulay said: “Arup’s decision to move to Piccadilly Place is a great endorsement for the quality of the space on offer at the scheme and strength of the location, which we believe makes it one of the most attractive office destinations in Manchester.”
Other occupiers include Weightmans, EC Harris, Orega, NHS, and Egencia. Savills markets the scheme along with GVA. Strutt and Parker advised Arup.
