Smaller Earth Group reveals 23% revenue surge

YOUTH travel specialist Smaller Earth UK has announced strong growth figures for 2013, with revenues up 23%.

The Liverpool-based business, which provides work placements for young adults worldwide through its Camp Leaders and Smaller Earth brands, increased turnover to £6.5m from £5.2m the previous year.

Camp Leaders places thousands of people on work placements in summer camps across the US every year, while Smaller Earth creates global work and volunteering opportunities in countries including Canada, China and Australia.

Smaller Earth Group chief executive Bastian Weinberger said:“In 2013 we sent more than 6,000 people from across the world to US summer camps, achieving a 99.3% rate of placements to people who applied to work with us. While other companies offering summer camp placements have stagnated, Camp Leaders and Smaller Earth have continued to grow, supplying more placements than ever.

“We work with each individual to analyse their skills and provide them with an overseas work placement bespoke to them. Throughout the application and travel process we support and guide each person so that they are safe, comfortable, confident and excited about their placement.”

Mr Weinberger said the company enjoys a high customer retention rate and strong relationships with partners in the US, Canada, China and Australia.

Smaller Earth was launched in 1999 and has offices in Europe, USA, South America, Australia and New Zealand. It was founded by entrepreneur Chris Arnold – now President of the Smaller Earth Group.
