Bobby Moore Fund Celebrity Sports Quiz returns to region

THE Bobby Moore Fund Celebrity Sports quiz will be making a high profile return to Manchester next month (March).
The quiz will once again be raising money for the More Tomorrows fundraising campaign for the new Manchester Cancer Research Centre which is being built in Withington, south Manchester.
Last year’s quiz raised £60,000. Hosts this year will include broadcasters Colin Murray, BBC 5Live’s Mark Chapman, Vicky Gomersall and Clare Tomlinson of Sky Sports.
The interactive quiz will be held at The Palace Hotel in Manchester city centre on the evening of Friday March 7.
Last year, the quiz attracted a host of sporting stars, including former Liverpool and England player John Barnes, Republic of Ireland assistant manager and TV pundit Roy Keane, retired boxer Ricky Hatton, England Under 21 coach Gareth Southgate, and ex-Everton FC pair Pat Nevin and Kevin Sheedy.
The Bobby Moore Fund was established by Stephanie Moore MBE in partnership with Cancer Research UK in 1993. It was set-up in memory of her husband, World Cup hero, Bobby Moore OBE, who died from bowel cancer.
Stephanie Moore said: “When we decided to roll out our flagship London fundraising event, the Celebrity Sports Quiz, in a new city in the UK last year, Manchester seemed the obvious choice.
“Vibrant, dynamic and arguably the sporting capital of the North, Manchester has also historically played a crucial role at the forefront of cancer research.
“We are confident that the 2014 quiz will be even more exciting and prove a great fundraiser for the More Tomorrows campaign.
“For more than a century, scientists and doctors in Manchester have been pivotal in the advancement of cancer research and care around the world. With more pioneering research, Manchester can become a world leader in the fight against cancer, creating more tomorrows for more people.”
In Manchester alone, around 1,900 people are diagnosed with cancer every year – that’s five families affected every day.
Companies still have the chance to get involved in the event by buying one of the last few remaining tables. There are also just two partnership packages left available: champagne sponsor and car partner.
