Eclectic plans fourth boutique hotel

MANCHESTER boutique hotel operator Eclectic Hotels is working on its fourth venue in the city.

Plans have been submitted to the city council for a 40-bed hotel at 8-10 Booth Street.

The listed building sits opposite the Chancery Place office block and was built in 1874 for the Manchester and Salford Trustees Savings Bank.

According to a heritage statement prepared by Turley Associates, the interior was stripped out in the 1980s in favour of modern offices around a central lightwell.

Eclectic is ultimately owned by Edward and Sally O’Loughlin who have previously launched the Great John Street Hotel, close to the Granada studios site, Didsbury House and Eleven Didsbury Park in Didsbury.

The Booth Street hotel will also have restaurant and conference facilities, and a rooftop extension that will include a spa.
