200 jobs for Liverpool

DESPITE uncertainty in the banking market Barclays has committed to creating more than 200 new jobs in Liverpool.

It is expanding its retail business and taking on more staff at a call centre in Wavertree.

The bank plans to take on 24 full and part-time account consultants every month for the next 10 months. It also wants to recruit new managers.

Barclays spokesman, Alan Longmuir, said: “This is a fantastic further investment into the Merseyside economy and provides great confidence in our position as a key and progressive employer in the region.”

The bank employs more than 2,000 people on Merseyside and around 1,000 at the Wavertree call centre.
