Vets practice opens in Failsworth with £280,000 funding

VETS practice the Animal Trust has opened a not-for-profit surgery in Failsworth, north Manchester, with a £280,000 loan from RBS.

It employs 18 staff, offering a range of care from general checks ups and annual vaccinations to orthopaedic surgery and chemotherapy.

There are no consultation fees for sick or injured patients – just fees for medicine and treatments.

Veterinarians and directors Owen Monie and Gareth Haines have been running a branch of the Animal Trust in Bolton for about two years. The Bolton practice cares for around 17,000 patients and they can see up to 150 pets a day. They are hoping to double the daily figure in Failsworth.

Mr Monie said: “We are one of the first not for profit practices in the UK. We had a vision of making veterinarian care affordable and created the Animal Trust for this purpose.”
