IT firm invests in new services

LIVERPOOL IT firm AIMES Grid Services has invested £100,000 to develop new services.

The cash will cover the cost of new networking equipment, servers and secure power supplies for the company’s business continuity and ‘cloud computing’ services which offer companies back-up facilities.

AIMES, established four years ago, has £1m turnover and works with clients such as Novartis Vaccines, Park Group, the Institute of Child Health and Caterpillar Group. The company, based on Liverpool Innovation Park, expects to grow turnover to £10m within the next five years.

Chief executive, Prof Dennis Kehoe, said: “Our ambition is to develop a successful digital infrastructure business here on Merseyside which combines highly efficient cloud computing, and secure and resilient facilities with cost effective, high bandwidth network provision.”

As part of the investment the company secured a £50,000 enterprise finance guarantee (EFG) loan from NatWest.
