Appointments: Baker Tilly has new partner, Addleshaws promotes nine, and more…

ACCOUNTANCY firm Baker Tilly has appointed Russell Cash as partner and Don Bailey as consultant to its restructuring and recovery team in Manchester.

They join current partner, Lindsey Cooper. Mr Cash has moved from PwC while Mr Bailey has moved from Begbies Traynor. He was a partner at Begbies for eight years and before that spent 10 years as partner at Ernst & Young.

ADDLESHAW Goddard has promoted nine of its Manchester fee earners to managing associates.

The firm’s director of human resources, Judith Hardy, said:  “The managing associate grade was introduced last September to respond to feedback about the need for a clearer career path with appropriate development and recognition of high potential associates.

“A year on, the introduction of this career grade has proved to be a real success, with eight managing associates gaining promotion to the partnership this year.”

Four of the nine managing associates are in the practice’s corporate department — Louise Porter, Rob Thompson, Rebecca Williams and Sara Norris. Alison Baxter, Kevin Hughes and Neil Armstrong have been promoted in the real estate department, with Anna Lees and Luke Stubbs promoted in the contentious and commercial department.

LAW firm Heatons has appointed Pauline Cowie as commercial partner. 

Ms Cowie joins the firm from Beachcroft where she was head of the Manchester office’s commercial services team.

Her remit at Heatons will include national and international transactions, franchising and brand management, information technology and outsourcing.

HL Interactive, which provides legal advice to property groups and financial institutions, has recruited Declan Brennan to head up its new credit services division.

Mr Brennan has more than 25 years of financial services experience and has held a number of senior positions in the banking sector.

In his new role as director of credit services, he will oversee HL Interactive’s mortgage repossession and recovery teams.

PUBLIC sector consultancy business Organisation Development Services has appointed Wyn Jones to its Manchester-based team.

Mr Jones, who has joined ODS as a senior consultant, was formerly the workforce planning manager for NHS Yorkshire and the Humber.

Following Mr Jones’ appointment, the consultancy has won a contract to provide strategic workforce advice to Merseyside Primary Care Trusts in Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley.

The company, founded in 2005 by former Manchester Business School academics Carol Brooks and Donna Bradshaw, has a predicted annual turnover of £750,000 for 2008.
