Peninsula boss Done launches outsourced sacking service

THE boss of Peninsula Business Services – which provides employment and health and safety advice to SMEs – is launching a new venture to help employers dismiss and discipline staff.

Peter Done is creating 35 jobs with the launch of hrface2face, which will
provide outsourced legal experts to companies who will then carry out
dismissals, redundancies or disciplinary procedures on behalf of bosses
who do not wish to undertake these processes.

Mr Done, who co-founded bookmaker BetFred with his older brother Fred, said: “Show me one person who enjoys firing someone, it’s not enjoyable. I was receiving calls from business friends asking if I could send my legal team to perform jobs they did not want to face such as disciplining staff and I thought there must be a market for this.

“My brother Fred and I recruit some terrific people, but there are always people who aren’t quite on the mark, so we don’t carry passengers and neither should any business.

“It doesn’t matter how many times you sack someone it’s important that you follow watertight rules to ensure that there are no consequences at
employment tribunal.”

He said the launch of hrface2face is a “no brainer” after a positive response to a recent trial.

The majority of the jobs to be created, 23, will be at Peninsula’s Manchester HQ, while the remainder will be based around the country. Mr Done added: “HR can be a nightmare – especially when you fire someone who is the nicest person but they are lousy at their job.

Hrface2face will support bosses whether it’s downsizing, disciplinary appeals, TUPE, redundancy consultation or providing personal support and advice.”
