Wire firm seeks extra space to meet demand

OLDHAM wire and mesh fabrication specialist AMP Wire is looking for an extra 10,000 sq ft to cater for growing demand.

It is also expanding its apprenticeship programme, improving its e-commerce site and updating its branding to mark its 20th anniversary.

The business, founded by managing director Pam Pelham in March 1994, makes storage equipment, security products and other items from high quality steel wire. Its product range spans CCTV camera guards to pizza display stands.

It has around 24 staff and three apprentices. The company expects to take on a further six staff in the coming months.

Ms Pelham said: “I’m extremely proud of the company we are today and of the exceptionally talented and dedicated people who have worked hard to get us here. We have gone from strength to strength over the last two decades and I am very excited to see where we are in another 20 years.

“To make sure we have stood the test of time we have invested significantly in equipment and technology and staff training and development. This is how we will be approaching the next chapter in the company’s history and I have ambitious plans for the further growth of AMP Wire. We have already seen a surge in demand through our e-commerce activity and are looking for 10,000 sq ft of additional space to service new and existing customers.”
