Appointments: Farleys; Enegi Oil; Flo Software;

FARLEYS Solicitors has boosted its commercial litigation and sports law department in Manchester with the addition of Richard Yates.
Yates, 27, from Manchester, completed his two-year solicitor training contract at Farleys.
He is also an experienced professional athlete and took part in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi India where he finished in 5th place in the 400 metres hurdles and won a bronze medal in the 4×400 metre relay. He trains at Trafford Athletic Club and participates in Grand Prix races throughout the season.
He said: “Qualifying as a solicitor with Farleys has given me a great insight into the commercial litigation and sports law teams and the fantastic results driven work they carry out. Through my athletics career I have a keen interest in the sporting industry and am looking forward to working with the team to help the department grow even further.”

OIL exploration firm Enegi Oil has appointed Professor Mike Bowman as a non-executive director.
The Manchester firm said he has over 30 years’ experience in the field of development and production geology.
For most of his career he was employed with BP. He is now Professor of Development and Production Geology at the University of Manchester. He replaces Alex Lamb, chairman of BEL Valves, who has resigned.
Chief executive Alan Minty said: “The board would like to thank Alex for his very significant contribution to the company over the past six years or so. I am delighted to welcome Mike Bowman to the board. He has been involved with the company as chairman of the advisory panel for the last two years. His extensive industry knowledge, particularly in the UKCS, will be important to the company as we increase our marginal field activities.”

KNUTSFORD-based Flo Software Solutions, a temporary recruitment software provider, has appointed Matthew Thomson as a sales executive.
Thomson joins from Flo’s sister company de Poel, where he served as an operations executive.
He said: “My role at Flo will involve demonstrating the software we offer to perspective customers in order to grow our client base. I look forward to helping to expand Flo’s portfolio and introduce new agencies to the benefits of the software.”
Chief executive Craig Aston said: “We’re delighted to welcome Matthew onboard. We’re confident that he will prove to be a valuable asset to our team and will undoubtedly bring additional skills to the table as we strengthen our presence in the market in 2014.
