Legal news: Energy brief; planning coup; commercial growth

A TEAM from law firm TLT,  led by Manchester-based partner John Lord,
has been appointed by energy group E.ON, to act for it on a range of payment and debt related contentious issues.

Among the matters the team will handle are: metering, tariff and billing disputes; interruption claims; disputes relating to Feed In Tarifs; recovery of unpaid bills and insolvency matters and enforcing judgements.
 
John Lord said: “TLT will draw on its litigation expertise, its energy and renewables sector insight and its UK wide presence to ensure it supports E.ON appropriately.”
 
The TLT team also comprises: partner and head of commercial litigation, Chris Owen; commercial litigation partner Julien Luke; commercial litigation associate, David White; and debt recovery associate Joanne Gardner-Boyes.

FARLEYS is reporting 33% growth in fee income in its commercial team in the past 12 months.

The team, headed up by partner Ian Liddle, represents companies in thei region and beyound, with some as far afield as Portsmouth.

With offices in Manchester, Blackburn, Burnley and Accrington, Farleys is looking to expand its team of 40 and grow its client base.

Mr Liddle said: “We’ve experienced growth in what has been the deepest recession this country has experienced and that’s testament to the hard work and positive results that the team generates.
