Leicestershire bowled over by sportswear brand

SPORTSWEAR brand Kukri has agreed a three-year deal to supply kit to Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Lancashire-based Kukri, which already supplies Lancashire CCC, will supply Leicestershire’s playing and training kit for the start of the new season.

Kukri GB sales director, Scott Gamble said: “We are delighted to add Leicestershire to the Kukri team sheet and have worked hard to create a kit which the players and fans will both approve of.

“The Leicestershire deal is a huge achievement for Kukri, we are now proud kit sponsors to four of the country’s major county cricket clubs which demonstrates the level of respect we have as a sportswear brand within the sport of cricket.”

Leicestershire chief executive, Mike Siddall, added: “Kukri was brilliant in providing top quality kit for our trip to the Champions League in 2011 at very short notice so I am really pleased that we have agreed a three year deal with them.”

As part of the sponsorship deal, Kukri will receive perimeter branding within the county’s Grace Road Stadium, tickets to all of its major match days, whilst all replica shirts, training kit and leisurewear will be sold online, through the team and Kukri websites.

Founded in 1999, Kukri is majority owned by listed Bury-based JD Sports Fashion. It has kit supply dealss with London Wasps, Ulster Rugby, England Netball, Australia Hockeyroos, Somerset, Warwickshire and Lancashire County Cricket Clubs and Wycombe Wanderers FC.
