Glover steps in to new role at Nationwide

BANKING executive Bryce Glover has been promoted to a new role at Nationwide Building Society.

Mr Glover, who left his native North West to join the country’s largest mutual nearly five years ago after 27 years in the local market with NatWest, The Co-op Bank and then Alliance & Leicester, has become its new director of corporate affairs.

Based at head office in Swindon and at the building society’s new London HQ, his brief now includes external and internal communications, media relations, public affairs and citizenship.

He said: “I am delighted to take up this new role. I am a passionate believer in the mutual model and Nationwide a very strong brand and a very significant financial institution.”

One of his last tasks in his previous role as divisional director, commercial, was to host a reception in Manchester with a message that Nationwide is ready to grow its property lending book, in the £1m to £10m commercial sector.

He said: “We are keen to continue to support new lending for commercial property where the structures and debt leverage are sensible, where we are dealing with experienced players with a good track record and the assets are good quality.”

“Outside of London, Manchester is the only location where we have new business teams, so the North West is an important market for us.”
