Property market rebound boosts JMW

AMBITIOUS law firm JMW is reporting dramatic growth in its private client team.

With revenue having trebled to £1.5m between 2011 and 2013, the Manchester firm has hired six extra fee earners – two starting in May-  meaning the team has more than doubled, from 15 to 21 since January 2013.

One of the key drivers has been the return of confidence in the housing market thanks.

As a result JMW has bolstered its residential conveyancing team with the hire of two specialist conveyancing assistants, Amanda Priest and Sarah Hill as well as Lindsey Robinson as a solicitor to cope with the additional workload.

New work has been generated from relationships with local estate agents as well as national company Move with Us, Seddons Homes and Pugh & Co auctioneers.

The firm’s trust, tax and probate team, which is a part of the private client department, has also increased revenue by 30%. The Court of Protection team has recruited an additional solicitor, Ben Tyer, from Linder Myers and a further solicitor will join in May.

Head of private client at JMW Andrew Garvie said: “We are seeing another increase in activity with overall instructions up considerably compared to this time last year.

“With some further new recruits due to start in next 2 months, it is going to be another exciting year for the team.”
